I do love these kinds of situations, I know these are the products of the imagination completely though.
Of course this is very good pic of Shadow done by your high skill, colors, expressions, and added atmosphere. Personally, in a sad scene, I rather love hiding the character's sad face because it will leave the viewer room for imagination. The layout you gave to this moved me.
That is such a sad and touching scene.
I love the concept of it!
